The Performance Assessment Weekend is the coming together of Youth & Junior athletes to undergo a series of physical time trials to qualify for the Elite Youth & Junior Race Series, a bit like Formula 1 where they race a number of times & get ranking points based upon their finish position.
It’s not all about the physical though as there are a number of talks aimed to help the athlete, parents & coaches understand the demands & expectation of Regional Academy athletes and those racing the National Series.

366 athletes were looking to qualify for the National Series – a tough ask given that there are roughly 200 race start slots.
This year, representing Team Synergie Coaching was Ryan, who has made the transition from Tristar 3 into Youth.
Ryan was up against 110 athletes all chasing 50 start slots in the first race of the season at Llanelli.
Ryan raced through to be 20th on the day and guaranteed himself a place on the start line at the first National Series race, a great step up into the Youth field and some great learning to be applied through the season.
